Delhi Right to Information Act 2001,  notified on 16.5.2001,  has come into force with effect from 2.10.2001  which is to bring transparency in government functioning by empowering the citizen in an unprecedented way.  As provided under the Act,  it is mandatory for the government to give virtually all information under its control to the public.   General Manager of the Corporation has been appointed as the Competent Authority for the purpose of this Act.

Since the Competent Authority will have to give a definite response to each request made by the public within a stipulated period i.e. in any case within thirty days of the receipt of the request either provide the information on payment of such fee as may be prescribed or reject the request for any of the reasons specified in Section 8 and 9,  as such,  all the Officers of the Corporation are requested to ensure that information so asked for by the Competent Authority is supplied accordingly failing which,  penal provisions will get attracted and whoever being bound to supply information shall be liable for the prescribed action.  They are further advised to up-date the records of their respective sections/Units so that the information is made readily available.
